Well…my Alexa ranking has been like a roller coaster ride fluctuating between 800,000 and 1.1million. Currently it is at 918,160. Google gives this site a page rank of 1 which is the lowest one can receive, but at least I’m in there. One good thing about this PR1 is that it got me a spot in the Best Places To get Quality Back Links list over at ThouShallBlog. I consider this to be an unexpected accomplishment because of the high amounts of traffic the list gets. Other marketers need a list like this in order to know who to”build with” as well as how to improve their own rankings which improves their visibility which improves their traffic which which should improve their readership and sales. A link to the PR Backlinks list will always be included within the blogroll.
Not much has changed here as far as site design besides the new favicon image you see in the address bar along with the MarketSecrets logo in the header…tell me what you think in the comments section. I am currently in the process of adding a Shopping Portal link into the navigation. It is going to be a full online shopping mall powered by Amazon yet built right within this site so whenever a visitor gets that shopping urge they’ll be able to find anything they need without having to go to any other site…top online and offline products, services, and merchandise will all be available right here. Also, this is being done in response to Joe’s post about cashing in on the holiday traffic. But of course it’s one thing to build, but another thing to actually market it ;)
You may have noticed the Top Commentators widget in the left side-bar. This showcases the visitors who leave the most comments and currently that visitor is Dennis Edell who also runs a blog in the IM/MMO niche. Alexa is a very important benchmark to determine the rankings and traffic of sites. Google is placed at the 2nd position as per Alexa rankings and traffic rankings and is facing tough competition from Live.com and of course Yahoo.

Some very good comments, and Yes, it’s hard to find consistent Alexa rankings. Firefox Alexa Add On can show high Alexa ranking but if you got to the Alexa site itself and get some thing completely different. Many adept marketers will not rely on Alexa, just use it as indicator amongst others as an average.
Getting TRAFFIC is the answer, irrespective of Alexa Ranking

Traffic generation, page rank and backlinking are all good. You need a purpose, product or service that people want and can benefit from using. Quality is always better than vast quantity.

Yep, I agree. Web traffic is everything. A site need not be fancy but if it is optimized well (on page and off page), it can bring in massive traffic. Once you have traffic, it can be monetized in many ways. Don’t worry too much about page rank now, just focus on tarfic by optimizing your website.

There is an alternative to getting your google adsense account. Signup at hubpages.com. add a couple of articles. Under the affiliate link you can signup to google adsense through them. worked for me :}.
After you get your adsense account go to Easycashcow.netand order your adsense templates. Then host them for free at Show My Website

I agree. The store is a good move. And isn’t it great that you can just put it up with a few clicks. In my brick-and-mortar business, it’s such a hassle. You have to start thinking about Christmas in the middle of August.

For the most part…except now Amazon has this new ‘validating of each product request’ which makes updating the store a major obstacle so I’ve deleted the store for now until I learn more on the new Amazon requirements

Actually a site ranking of zero is technically the lowest or your site could not be cached by Google which is even worse. Your site is a lot better off then you realize.
