This is a quick post to let you in on what I see from forums to be an ongoing glitch(or hack!).
MSB as well as one of my other blogs CipherSearch.com has had all blog posts magically disappear on two different occasions.
Although, I still have yet to find out why, the following four steps brought them back on both incidences:
- Goto your c-panel to find ‘phpMyAdmin’ and click on it
- Once there, select the table that says ‘YOURWPLOGINNAME_wp’
- Then select the box that says ‘wp_posts’
- Finally, scroll near the bottom of this entire list where you’ll find ‘With selected’ and click on ‘Repair table’
If this does not work for you like it did for me, then dial TECH 911
I am very interested if anyone knows why this happens every so often
SIDENOTE:Guess I should take making backups of my sites more seriously

Hi Caleb,
I really wanted to drop by your site to thank you personally for the mention you made on diTesco blog.
Next, regarding your post I couldn’t say for sure because I never experienced this problem.
What do you mean by “disappear”? Did they returned a 404 error when you tried opening them?
One potential cause could be from an update of your blogging platform / plugin. Any problem of connectivity during the process could cause a slight damage and corrupt your tables or database structure.
This is why it is always recommended to backup your database before making any modification or upgrades.
I know it never happens, until it does…
As a good habit, even if we don’t do upgrade or modification, it’s good practice to backup your work regularly.
At least Caleb you were lucky enough to be able to recover your work!

Thanx for dropping by!
What I meant by “disappeared” is the blog showed up fine with sidebar widgets in tact and everything, but there were no posts! Not even within the WP Admin edit post nor were there any 404 error mssg’s!
Weird

If you’re running Wordpress, they have an automatic backup that will do your database every night, and email you the files. Then, you just have to remember to download your theme files if you make any template edits.

Alright, I just installed it and set up the backup schedule…this makes it easier.
I’ll probably include this one on my next plugin post…thanx Kristi!
You may want to set that plugin for once per week instead of daily…it’ll produce a lot of emails.
I had this happen to me just recently and did freak me out. It seemed to correct itself after a bit though.

I realized that from the jump and set it up for weekly…but thanx for the tip

Great lesson learned here. First, I am glad that you have recovered all your work and running smoothly (well, not really – be back on this in a while).
Second, backup – daily, weekly whatever. Just back it up. Automatic is great but I still rely on the good old “do it myself” technique. It does not hurt and also does not take too much time.
Let’s go for the not really. On your homepage, above your main blog post, you have some scripts (I think) that often loads with a lot of errors. One of them I am sure, are the flags (translation widget?). I am ok with this because I am used to it and I don’t care. I want to read your post. Nevertheless, you might want to check this out.

Found the culprit…
Interestingly, it was my Twitter Love post that caused the problem. The Twitter profile images therein could not be retrieved by the Featurific (post showcase on main page) plugin as Featurific pulls pics from blog posts.
To correct this I made that Twitter Love post private for a while; however, it will go back live for public viewing in a couple of weeks.

So there was a problem then. I thought it was just me and my browser:) Glad you found the tricky little bird causing this.

The plugin Kristi mentioned automatically makes copies(creates back-ups) of your site folders/files at preset intervals just in case an episode -like what’s in this post or worst- happens.
The tip in the post is one solution I’ve found to repair the tables that hold your post content information…it may not work for all situations where posts may “disappear”, so backing-up is a MUST-DO thing which I’ve neglected in the past.

My posts are always disappearing. Thanks for the insight, I am going to try it out. Nice Article!

Hello Caleb! Thanks lot for your comment and post similar to our issue. I tried to checkout MySQL database or phpMyAdmin but it’s currently April 2009 comments, the old comments we had were really lost. Our host were really supportive but they said the backups were overwritten. Anyway, I learn something from it!

Making money with Adsense it’s becoming harder and harder. Couple of years ago, Adsense program was really hot
Nowdays, affiliate earnings are much more rewarding. More and more publishers go into CPA networks everyday. Adsense is paying penny per clicks .. Too bad .. I actually enjoyed it while it lasted.
