How To Plan Your Website SEO

Listen with webreader

It is vital that you plan and monitor your SEO strategy effectively, but where do you start? In this article we will be looking at the steps that you have to take in order to promote your website through the use of SEO. The steps that we will be discussing are important and none of these steps should be missed. If you follow all of the steps below you will be able to implement an effective SEO strategy.

1. Choosing the right keywords:
Keywords are the foundation of your SEO and you have to choose them carefully. Making mistakes when choosing your keywords can be costly and time consuming. The keywords that you choose should describe your business, product or service. It should be frequently used by people on Google or the other search engines and the online competition for these keywords should not be too high (not too many websites should already be competing for the keywords).

2. Optimizing your site’s contents:
It is very important that you design a good-looking, user and search engine friendly website that promotes your products or services. Firstly your website should be informative with user-orientated content that will keep customers spending money on your site. For your SEO you should use your chosen keywords effectively in each element of your page’s HTML code. This will allow Google and the rest of the search engines to understand that your pages are topically related to your keywords and to start ranking your pages for your keywords.

3. Finding good quality links:
In order to be ranked highly by the search engines you need to get a lot of links pointing to your site from other websites. Good links comes from similar and topically related websites. These websites should be respected, well established and trusted by the search engines. The visible part of the link to your website (anchor text) should contain your keywords. One of the quickest ways to find good quality links is to analyse your top competitors and to see where they are getting their links from.

4. Building a network of quality links:
You need a wide network of links before your website will rank well on the search engines. It is important to build links from a variety of quality sources and there are various methods available to build links. Websites with good quality and popular content that is updated regularly do not need to do much in order to get links. Some sites buy or exchange links with highly ranked websites or offer discounts or free services for a link. Blog comments on high ranking blogs (with similar content than your site) is an effective link building method and is widely used. Make use of social media sites like Twitter and also bookmarking sites to build one way links to your site. You will need to build links for as long as your website is active if you want to rank high and retain your rankings over time.

5. Monitoring keyword rankings:
In order to see if your SEO strategy has paid off you need to monitor the positions of your website keywords on the search result pages. You will be able to identify the activities that works the best for you and also rectify mistakes very quickly.

Well planned, implemented and monitored SEO strategies will result in high website rankings over time. Two of the most important pillars of SEO is keyword research and link building. Rather spend more time on choosing the correct keywords and also implement a daily link building schedule where you build a minimum of 10 links a day. The results will speak for itself.

    I am glad that we have included the term ‘monitoring’ in this article. This is because doing SEO is not just a one time thing. If we want to get the best results out of our SEO efforts then we need to do both onpage and offpage optimization. There’s no way that doing seo can be like ‘just set it and forget’ kind of thing. In the end, it is critical that we are clear on the keywords to optimize (I also do ten at a time) for the site as doing link building to get backlinks is really an ongoing process.

    Cheers,

    @Rugby Blog,
    T make this short, search engines actually search/index the web for websites by looking at certain “tags” found within the coding of your site(this is commonly known as search engine crawling). These “tags” are your keywords and phrases which mostly specifies what your site is about. Engines also look for how many other sites are linking to you as this theoretically signifies a vote..

    Having these in proper place among other numerous factors are what makes your site search engine friendly.

    @website traffic,
    Just visited your site and I’m interested in your services as I have used similar types of services in the past…some traffic was decent while others were crap!

    Among the best were those that redirected expired domain traffic and I wondered is this what you do :?:

    btw: the one thing that’s missing from your site is a contact form for further info…this merits suspicion for obvious reasons :roll:
