Hello everybody, and welcome to an informative piece by Sterling Design, you’re choice for web design pontefract , and general search engine optimisation pontefract.
Today, I would like to talk about 3d logo design for the web. As you know, many companies have been recently updating their logos, to get in to the new style of “web 2.0” type of design. This type of design, is clear , succinct , and easy to navigate. The use of the 2.0 type of design , enables the designer to charm the audience with minimalistic, yet straightforward webpages .
3D logos are a fantastic way to create a 2.0 style addition to your website . The best program to design your 3d logo, is adobe illustrator. Most designers use this method of creating vector animations , so it is probably not new to you. although , Creating a 3d image in illustrator might not be as clear. Lets begin the process of building a logo in illustrator. Firstly, lets create a new document in illustrator.
1. click the rectangle tool (m) and draw a 5 pixel high box , that is about 400 points in length.
2. Now, click the elipse (L) tool and draw two circles at both ends of the square box you have just drawn . (Like a dumbbell shape)
3. Open the “pathfinder” and select your dumbbell shape and click “divide” (the first option choice ) in the pathfinder pallete.
4. choose your Direct Selection Tool (A) , and choose all the points inside the dumbbell drawing one by one, and remove the sections that intersect the image so that it is all one piece. (no intersecting lines).
5. After you have done this, then click the “Add to Shape Area” on your pathfinder panel .
6. Now select your “Effects” tab at the top of illustrator. Then to 3D, then to Extrude and Bevel.
7. In the choice box, use the cube to position the image as you want it. Make sure preview is clicked . Then click the perspective and make it near 130 degrees. After this, change the extrude depth to about 400px.
8. If you want to add alternate lighting sources, click the “More Options” button.
9. You can also place images onto your design . All you have to do is select the map art button and select a symbol to the logo design and it will look as if the image is on the logo. (imagine drawing a 3d book and adding real pages on the 3d design). You can create a symbol by dragging an image into the symbols pallette
