Some Helpful Stuff From The Blogosphere

Listen with webreader

The insights you find here on MSb don’t always come from the oracle of my own mind for as you know I am a firm believer that no man is an island. And in keeping in step with this belief I would like to share you just a few snippets of posts that have contributed to some of the insights of Caleb “The MarketSecrets Blogger”.

Not only have these posts added to my cipher but they also provide the key things any blogger/internet marketer needs to do in order to establish themselves as worthy of remembering.

  • First we’ll start with having the correct mindset which brings us to Tia’s blog:

Readers don’t want to be sold to. Readers don’t want to hear about what you can do for them if it’s going to cost anything. Readers want to read your blog because it is free.

But the term she used in her post title was not “readers,” it was “clients,” and there is a difference.

A client pays you to do something. When you’re using a blog to attract clients, it’s to the extent that you sufficiently convince them that you know what you’re doing well enough for them to take 15 minutes out of their day to give you a call.(Read the rest here…)

SIDENOTE: Let’s face it most of us are in this to make money. This is a business and if you are not blogging or building websites to do business then chances are that you would not be even visiting MSB :D

  • Next you will need the actual site/blog and there are many tutorials and services for creating the proper site, but I’ll go ahead and be biased by recommending WordPress(click here for a complete tutorial on using WordPress) as it’s a platform that is highly customizable and professional. However there is something you want to take serious consideration for and that is the color scheme of your site which is where Kate Kutny’s guest post on Johnathon Volks blog comes into play:

Each color has been known to affect our moods and what we do. People have been known to use color psychology in their websites to get more sales. But how can you use it in your blog you wonder? Well if you read more about it below, you will learn how.

First get to understand how each color effect’s people’s moods. And then edit the colors in your website to go with what your site is about. For example: If your site is a social network it would be recommended to use allot of blue and white. And if it is a postal service website it would be recommended to use allot of brown. I know at this moment you are wondering why these places choose these colors. Well there is a reason and I will let you know more about it now.(Read the rest here…)

SIDENOTE: This is an often overlooked thing as many just choose colors that look appealing to their own egos instead of what effects the psychology of the reader. I mean just think about the way you feel when looking at certain colors!?

  • Of course you have to have the actual content along with the correct timely frequency of that content. This is where many sigh and pout because most people just don’t like to write so I’ll point you to two posts from an author at FamousBloggers who you might know and love :)

@ducati56, The science behind colors (shapes, odors, and especially sound too) has been closely guarded for thousands of years. In fact I used the color orange based on this science and briefly explained why in response to the following comment: comment-10522

Hey Caleb – Thanks for leading off with my post. Blogging is a tool used by people with many different goals, and I’ve found it challenging to provide blogging advice that crosses the spectrum. But credibility is one of those things that everyone needs; even personal bloggers. I think being genuine goes a long way, and that people will be influenced by us even when we don’t necessarily have all of the experience in the world.

Great post. Way to tie everything in together! You’ll have to expand more on getting traffic; I’d love to hear your thoughts on that.

    Cheers,

    @Tia,
Instead of rehashing most of what has already been taught regarding traffic I decided to just leave the resources you see in the post as they are on point.

But I suppose the MarketSecrets Blogger should share what he’s learned so far in that area, huh :?:

Well to be honest, the best way I’ve found is to pay for it from a targeted network which is also why I left the Adbrite link ;)

Suffice it to say I’m working on a post that will shed a bit more insight, the title is going to be “Does It Take Money To Make Money?” so be on the look out for it..

    btw,
    You’re welcome :!:

    Thanks for the post Caleb,

I agree that Readers don’t want to hear about what you can do for them if it’s going to cost anything, but if you have quality content and you were able to build credibility I think they will start trusting your word and actually might even start buying anything you tell them about because they trust you.

Building credibility might turn your Readers to Clients/Customers.

    Great post, thanks. :)

if you have quality content and you were able to build credibility..

That’s the thing all bloggers seek…so as long as we’re willing to be patient then as the old saying goes, “seek and ye shall find!”
